Suitable cosmetics for tanning in a solarium

A long-lasting and beautiful tan depends primarily on proper skin preparation before and after tanning. How should you properly care for your skin while tanning? What cosmetics should you use? If you want to achieve your dream tan, it's worth knowing the answers to these questions.
Professional tanning cosmetics
Professionaltanning cosmetics contain numerous active ingredients, plant extracts and specially selected oils to:
- ensure proper skin care
- speed up the tan process
- deepen the shade and extend the durability of the tan
- protect the skin against signs of aging
- reduce unpleasant odor after sunbathing
Most cosmetics also have additional properties, such as anti-aging, firming, anti-cellulite, tattoo color protection, and intense moisturizing, to ensure optimal care for all skin types.
Onyx professional cosmetics offer a variety of products that will meet the requirements of each client, depending on the type and condition of their skin.
A firm NO to beach cosmetics, oils and butters
Tanning in a tanning bed differs significantly from tanning on the beach, as it occurs under controlled conditions, which cannot be attributed to sunbathing on the beach. For this reason, tanning bed lotions are fundamentally different from beach cosmetics. Beach cosmetics must contain sunscreens (SPF), which protect the skin from uncontrolled amounts of solar radiation. In a tanning bed, these products delay, or even prevent, the development of a tan. Using sunscreen in a tanning bed can be compared to stepping into the shower with an umbrella – this is pointless, as tanning bed and sunscreen products have completely different functions. Tanning bed lotions accelerate tanning, while beach lotions slow it down. Furthermore, tanning bed products are easily absorbed, unlike sunscreens, which leave a protective film on the skin.
Using oils and butters in a tanning bed isn't the best idea, as some of them (e.g., shea butter) also contain natural filters that interfere with the tanning process, significantly delaying the development of a lasting tan. Most tanning oils, on the other hand, are paraffin-based, which may not be compatible with some skin types due to poor absorption and the possibility of leaving a greasy film on the skin.
Using products not designed for tanning beds will not achieve the desired results. Furthermore, it can damage the tanning bed and delay or prevent proper tanning. Therefore, only use products specifically designed for tanning beds.
